A hope for the future

Posted by Mr. Robot | May 24th, 2015 | No responses

Nothing says “I love you”, like a photo session with your significant other in a beautiful place filled with water and trees. This is where the magic happens. Every photographer and their chupacabra is out taking photos at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens, and if you cant beat them, you join them. It isn’t hard to sort through your photos and wonder why every shot looks like every photographer’s wet dream. The Fort Worth Botanical Gardens has been shot more times than Bonnie and Clyde, and I don’t particularly like going to shoot where everyone else has, but some people just like this venue for its charming appeal of water and flowers. Water and flowers? What have I gotten myself into? Is there any hope for my future as a photographer given the nature of this very shoot?

This is not my usual thing, but I have been known to shoot what has been done before, especially by others who have perfected the art of couples photography. I can manage a bit of this, but all in moderation. I couldn’t imagine a list of people waiting for me to shoot them as they hold hands, but I don’t mind (no pun intended) a handful a year. I admit, that I have room for improvement on this subject, especially if the realm of a non controlled environment, but I do so much better with still life, and landscapes. Street photography is where it is at for me, but even then, people don’t always make the photograph interesting.

Mitch is ex military, and when he asked for a photo shoot with his girlfriend for some special second prom occasion, I couldn’t refuse the opportunity. After all by American standards, if you’re a veteran, then by all means you are a hero, right? So I met with him and his girlfriend, who’s name slips my memory, but among all the things I forget, I did remember to bring my camera.

A great looking couple that I had the pleasure of snapping some photos of. Why they chose me, when there are tons of men and women photographers out there who absolutely eat this mushy crap up, I am sure I don’t know. One thing is for sure, it’s been several months since I have taken these photos, and they are still a happy couple. So maybe, there is hope for the future.
