I remember when I was a little kid my parents would take the family to Galveston, Texas for a beach vacation. Five hours on the road, a few stops for gas, and we would be in the dirtiest part of the ocean where the shit trickles into the gulf. I was swimming in it.
I’m in New York now, shit still trickles in, and I am still swimming in it. As you may very well know, Galveston wasn’t that great of a vacation destination, but at that time it felt like quite an escape from our “regular life”. Fast forward the tape and I’m in Times Square. On this day things seemed to be “regular life” again (in terms of business as usual), but then there was Steph Marc.
The man in the video is Steph Marc, and I waited that whole time to see if he was just some crazy man or a genius. Screaming at the top of his lungs, he seemed unstoppable. I thought to myself perhaps this man had found his very own private escape in his head amongst the people of New York. Could Steph Marc be a container for both crazy and genius? I was compelled to find out.
This curiosity led me over to the Comedy Secret Show in the East Village, where Steph and friends host at the Blind Barber. Here you will find multiple containers of crazy and genius as well as that escape you might be seeking. Do not be fooled, it is indeed a barber shop, but towards the back is another entrance that is open to different types of buzz cuts. You will get that feeling of being a gangster walking past the barber stations and into a secret area complete with a full bar, a dance floor, and a DJ booth.
A full line of comics await, each with different styles, magnetic personalities, and they will make you laugh with drinks in hand. It is a cozy place, positive vibes, good music, and just good people all around. Maybe you can get a hair cut too, but that’s a whole different experience.
