The day has finally arrived! The Guardians of the Galaxy are here! I read this comic book a long ass time ago before this new team stepped in. It was different, it was cool, and now the movie is by far the best I have seen of all the Marvel movies. It has everything you could ever want in a film, and the characters are very well developed. Star Lord is such a great character, from his intro to the end. Pratt was an excellent choice for the role. While I believe Rocket Raccoon and Groot stole the show, it definitely was Star Lord’s story. Such a big gamble on a film where a majority of the audience has no idea who these characters are. It was worth the risk though, and the film takes you on a great ride that is beyond action, but great story telling. The music takes me back to a time where my father would play his vinyl records of these exact same songs. When people initially saw the trailer for the first time, the music set some people off. What the story explains nicely is that these songs are Star Lord’s memories from his time on Earth. We as an audience can understand that he is a human being in a much larger world (er galaxy). I can not wait for the sequel! Check out Guardians of the Galaxy in theaters today! 5 stars.
