I’ve been watching reruns of Breaking Bad, and I couldn’t help but go back and revisit the photo session with Mitch and Mr. Allen. There were a few gems in the series that I am considering making into posters. Remembering this series, I was trying to recall how I was able to find a Jessie and Walter. Acquiring the costumes was fairly easy, I mean I just went to a Home Depot, and everything I needed was there. However, a Mr. White and Pinkman were not readily available at the local hardware store. That took some time, and so like most folks, when you want to sit back and watch the emails fly in, you post on craigslist and hope for the best. It took about 2 weeks to go through some weird emails of people who looked nothing like the character. Hell, I even got some emails asking if what I really wanted was meth, and those were funny to read. That is when Mrs. Allen emailed and told me this great story about how her husband looked exactly like Walter White, and even provided picture proof. I was in shock on how much her husband looked like Walt, so I locked him in for the photo session. The other part of the blue sky duo was also tricky. Luckily at the last minute, my nephew told me about his friend, Mitch, who kind of sorta looked a bit like Jessie. I mean you really have to squint your eyes and use suspension of disbelief, but I think it worked out rather well.
Every time I think of this photo session I really wish I had more of a budget to have done some cooler shots. I think I was able to get some decent images of them working inside what looks like a car garage, which it is, but at least it looked a meth lab rugged. The end result was satisfactory, and maybe I will revisit this Breaking Bad universe again with other character models. Better Call Saul is not too far away from the 3rd season, and of course Austin had Los Pollos Hermanos down in South by South West giving out water and French fries. Maybe we can cook something up again in the near future!
