It is true that we often shoot themed photos with a sense of darkness to them. Moera Creative is proud to showcase incredible imagery that gets people thinking. We find beauty in the uniqueness of the strange and the unusual. In this favorite month of ours, we focus on the beauty of an incredible talent by the name of Heather Lehman. This prismatic beauty had taken a bit of time off for her modeling career. She returns with a vibrant new look, and of course it is more than just her hair that gets everyone’s attention.

So the story begins with having the inspiration to shoot something completely different in a dark setting. The focal point revolves around the colorful hair. Now, I dont understand the style very well, but I can appreciate it. In fact, it seems every where you look these days, people just seem to be going for some rather extreme hair colors. I suppose I am a bit guilty of that as well, going from black hair to red hair over night, but these colors here are tricky to pull off.

Of course Heather is able to wear the green just fine, and with the natural hair color peeking through, I suppose it can be seen as an artistic balance of style and fashion that doesn’t just wash out. When you’re beautiful, you can get away with a lot of things, and not many people can pull off this multicolor hair splash. Which leads me to the session we photographed. We had to pull together some fashions that were very much complimentary to the hair style. I procured a really nice feathery jacket with lots of fluff, and man did it look awesome the way the light hit it.

Star Wars must have been on my mind with the feathery jacket. It reminded me of Chewbacca, and so I had to get the old school Star Wars polyester t-shirt for a few of the shots. It went well with the whole look and feel. Moving on with the shoot, I can tell you that the tools used here were some Profoto D1’s with a 20 degree grid for the overhead light. A couple of soft boxes hit each side of Heather’s body, and it made for some very nice highlights.

As you can see, there was a nice range of photos that turned out as I had planned, with a few surprises here and there. One of my favorite things to do in post processing is to add some customized filters in editing. Heather doesn’t need it, but I definitely wanted a specific look to these images. I hope you enjoyed the artistry of what we shot indoors, but stay tuned for part two, where we take this session outside.
