Another Red Series.

It’s been a nonstop rain parade in October. We were quite lucky to get a few hours of calm before the storm on this photo session. Downtown Dallas in the Arts District seemed like a mighty fine place, so we headed there with our gear, and we were prepared for the elements. Of course there is no forgiveness for being unprepared, but in the end we managed to snag a few photos before the clouds gathered and killed the sun.

Hardly a Blue Sky in Sight.

If you’ve never been to downtown Dallas, then you’re just missing out. It is a very artsy place filled with big business, construction, and creatives. Every year something changes but the general mood of big city life is always there. I was quite surprised that we were able to have a photo session here in the city outdoors without being disturbed. I can remember walking down the block and being asked for change on every corner. I didn’t experience this during my time there, but you still want to be aware of your surroundings. I mean I may know photo fu, but any other martial arts? I am completely lacking.

Gear.

It is my trusty Nikon D850 and Profoto B2 kicking it in downtown. In some of these shots I snuck in a Profoto A1 flash. The lens? 24-70mm Nikkor to make everything to my liking. Light modifier included an OCF Magnum by Profoto and a Medium Deep Silver Umbrella. You will notice where the clouds just ate up the sun, but on a few images you can catch a hint of blue way up there. It was a successful shoot once again, and there is nothing quite like being under the pressure of getting the shot when rain is about to wash you out. Until next time!
