I know it feels like 2020 shit stormed all of the world. Everyone seemingly trapped in their homes. Only coming out for what seemed to be hoarding toiletries and canned goods. I am a simple person. A box of cereal will do for me. Sometimes it was even challenging to get that. I’ve not posted in quite a while. I have taken the time to look towards a more creative future. We’ve picked up some instruments and began expressing ourselves musically. Now we are on the pathway to blues and rock and roll. We’ve been lucky. I dont think I need to say more beyond that. 2021 is a brand new year and many have hoped for brighter days ahead. The city is coming back to life. Everyone is in line for their first or second shot now. Slowly but surely traffic has gone back to normal. Now here we are. Taking the time to express ourselves creatively again.
Many of my close friends have noticed my recent obsession with buying guitars. I guess I might have gotten carried away for a few months. I honestly dont think I have a problem just yet. I’ve seen people with real problems. Those with their homes looking like you stepped inside a guitar center. Wall to wall with axes of all shapes and sizes just mounted and chosen for play at the owner’s discretion. I dont think mine is quite there yet. I wanted to capture the progress of my guitar playing with these wonderful photos. My lovely daughter decided to go on a Jimmy Page kick and cut her hair. I guess I followed suit and decided to grow my hair out, but I was unsuccessful. No, maybe my long hair days are over, but I can still play the guitar and not worry too much about my appearance. So what exactly inspired these photos? I think it had to do with being on a White Stripes musical binge. Third Man Records out in Nashville, Tennessee was really doing some influential things and it inspired us to just use what we had learned and create this really awesome spread.
How many people have been seeking some sort of out this past year? It must be difficult to escape all of the madness. There is a little light at the end of the tunnel which some of us have managed to gravitate towards. People seem to be traveling, airports are filling back up, and the world of people wearing masks are showing their true selves even without a face. It is going to be an exciting time in the world. Thank goodness for music and the will to want to discover your hidden talents even if it seems years too late.
