Here is a story of a lovely lady. Someone with very little experience on modeling, but with a lot more in the uphill journey of life. An 8 month time span from the original plan to shoot these photos, and here we are now. This quick trip into the middle of nowhere just a few hiking miles from Eagle Mountain lake, and we settle in at the spot where most photographers go to shoot their senior photos. I have become typical here, but nevertheless I make the best of the situation. This makes for great practice, and our model doesn’t seem to mind as her thoughts are lost within the clouds.
A photographer usually tries to evoke an emotion through their photographs, and it occasionally begins with a smile. Here it was a little different because I almost expected that I would not achieve the intended results. My subject was way too nervous for that, and being this was her first time modeling, I decided to focus on the inner turmoil. She is a very beautiful girl, painfully shy in these circumstances, but nevertheless I think you can see something that evokes that emotion if you look hard enough in any photo.
Sometimes you go into post processing and edit all the tiny imperfections from a photo, but in this case, I didn’t think it was necessary as it added to this model’s character. Things that often make for additional work in a photographer’s workflow are for the most part, better left alone. It gives you the understanding that not everyone is shiny plastic, but real human beings. I think that is ok. It is a story better left told through a photo rather than words.
