The Don.

Speaking softly and swinging a key blade, Marc the Don is a man of many talents. Artist, fashion designer, model, DJ, MC, promoter, and all around New Yorker. Marc has taken me up and down the streets of New York, the subway underground, a party boat, and a hidden basement studio. Sometimes it’s dangerous, sometimes there’s a chopped cheese sandwich at the end, but it is all adventurous.
Marc walks in with a wardrobe and a can of seltzer water. He set 20 alarms on his phone to make sure he made it to the session on time. He slept through every one of them. The Titanic never made it to New York, but Marc wasn’t going to let oversleeping be his ice berg.
What we were going for here was simple, casual, and being in New York I was inspired by that John Wick lighting.

The Shoot.

Inspired by the scene in John Wick, I set up the Red Circle lighting with really cool results.
The Setup: A Profoto Beauty Dish pointed down as a hair light with a Profoto 1×3 Strip Box on each side. We had placed red gels in the right strip box as well as the beauty dish, and we used a Profoto A1 Flash with a blue gel pointing at the face.

I think we got some nice shots from the session. Make sure to catch Marc the Don on Spotify, and at Loft 251 where he hosts events weekly.
